Beaujon
2016–2026

Self Initiated
Typeface Beaujon is an homage to the French Renaissance printing types and the late Beatrice Warde, who conducted invaluable research on the subject. It also references Henri Parmentier’s Garamond from 1926 and Vendome by Francois Ganeau for Fonderie Olive. Beaujon does not provide an answer or a definitive solution; rather, it continues the legacy of its predecessors, offering a comprehensive range of weights from Razor to Extrabold and optical sizes; Display and Text. Designed with variable fonts in mind, Beaujon serves as a practical tool for contemporary designers.

Dinamo
Typeface In 2023, Dinamo tasked me with an enormous project, expanding their single-weight-multi-width typeface, Gravity, into a full range of weights. The typeface now spans from an ultra-thin Hairline all the way to the substantial Ultra weight. All the weights are available in upright and italic, across the previous width range.
“ABC Gravity is a typeface that covers ‘all the widths in this world’ — from super compressed to super wide. Aesthetically, it shares a community garden with Compacta, Information, and Impact, the titling bad boys of the ’60s and ’70s, but drawn softer, more open, and friendlier: the curves stay curvy as far down the width axis as possible, so once you’re past “Condensed,” things get warmer instantly.” - Dinamo
Don’t forget to check out the The Return of Gravity comic, drawn specifically for the release, by Dinamo’s own Melanie Schmidt.

Museo Casa Kahlo
2025 Pentagram
TypefaceAbbott Miller and his team at Pentagram tasked me with designing a custom typeface for the Museo Casa Kahlo, based on Frida’s early handwritten notes from 1926.
The typeface attempts to embody the spirit of Frida’s work through a veristile system of OpenType features; swashes, contextual alternates, while balancing the austeer wide letterforms. Although the typeface plays a very small role in the overall branding of the museum, it gives so much character to any text it is set with.

Lettering Logo
We were approached by the creative team at MCM to redesign their iconic logo. The new logotype redesign is based on Genzsh & Heyse’s 1888 Römische Antiqua, a predecessor to the American DeVinne types. Römische is one of the archetypal 19th’s century German printing types. It exudes the seriousness of a Scotch Roman while concurrently balancing the quirks of the grotesques of the period. The final logo was reworked into 4 versions, 2 optical sizes each with a lighter “grade” to work on dark backgrounds.

Spaceport
2026 Vincent Chan Python
Tooling
A spaceport is a site where spacecraft are tested, launched and maintained. Spaceport is an extension where multiple, un/related UFOs can be spaced, kerned and interpolated concurrently.
Vincent Chan [Matter of Sorts Counter Forms] commisioned me to develop a RoboFont extension where someone could space, kern, and interpolate multiple UFOs within a single window.
Spaceport is written purely in Python and built on top of RoboFont’s core tools and Tal Leming’s Merz — “...a lightweight wrapper around Apple’s CoreAnimation framework...”  Spaceport was developed with a smiliar architecture to an IDE, tracking the mouse and key interactions inside a flexible-unstructured grid of characters / glyphs.
Spaceport is open-source and availabe to download now!

StrokeScribbler
2025 Kai Bernau Python
Tooling
In late 2024, Kai Bernau brought me on to the project, in the hopes that I could develop a RoboFont tool to visualize a Noordzij-ian method of drawing inside the glyph editor.

The tool is based around StrokeFlattener, a custom implimentation of both the FlattenPen and SamplingPen functionailties. Supplying the pen with a dictionary of indexes and point counts as `approximateSegmentLength`, it will sample the contour but if you give it an integer it will calculate the distance to subdivide the contour.

Research for Beyond Bézier was carried out by Matthieu Cortat-Roller, Alice Savoie, Kai Bernau, Radim Peško, Micha Wasem and Florence Yerly. The project started in September 2023 and was completed in May 2025.

Greenstone
2020
Typeface
Greenstone is a display-oriented serif that hones in the expressive vernacular of Ogg’s mid-century book jacket lettering and the engravings found on epitaphs throughout New England. The typeface combines the precise, controlled construction of these ink and stone letterforms with an unexpected dramatic flair. The result is a digital homage to sacred traditions of hand lettering, erudite and exploratory in equal measure.

Garnett2016–2018Self InitiatedTypefaceGarnett’s forms are derived from the early grotesques of 19th-century Britain, with particular influence drawn from the work of the Stephenson Blake, Caslon, Miller & Richard, and Vincent Figgins’ foundries. Garnett’s forms lend themselves to the ideas of a utilitarian design aesthetic while concurrently keeping the flavor and quirkiness of the exemplars.
